Neck Ropes or Cordeos
Neck Ropes, or you may be familiar with the name "Cordeo", can be used by anyone who rides bridleless.
These are becoming more and more popular all the time, and although originally intended for bridleless riding, neck ropes work well for groundwork too as it gives you something to grab to help guide the horse in the direction you intended.

Follow the link to read the article "Why use a Cordeo in Training?" by Ivy Schexnayder:
equestrianharmony.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/why-use-a-cordeo-in-training/
Here are a few quotes from the article:
"A cordeo is simply a neck rope."
"One of the benefits of using a cordeo in most of your training is that you can almost never force the horse into doing what you want. Sure you can use a lot of pressure, but with almost no control or pain. This allows you to use it as a tool to increase your bond with your horse."
"Using a cordeo can teach you to be light. It can teach you to watch what your horse is telling you. It can help your horse to begin thinking and interacting with you. It can be the beginning of a fantastic relationship between you and your horse."
Search the internet and YouTube for more information and videos on using Neck Ropes.

Some words of caution:
Riding bridleless is an advanced method or riding that takes a great deal of time to develop. Serious injury could occur to both horse and rider if both are not ready for this advanced level. Please take the greatest of care when using a tool such as the Neck Rope as safety should always be the first priority.
We all have to start somewhere. If you'd love to ride bridleless but aren't quite ready for it yet please be sure to do lots of research and learn from an experienced trainer to keep you and your horse as safe as possible.
We can supply you with the tools but we cannot supply the common sense and training needed to use the tools safely.
That part is up to you! Ride safe!

Knotted Style
- Longer lengths are available for an additional charge, email to inquire. - Can be made without the Get Down Line as shown in purple in image KNR1 - Knot can be taken apart to use as a very light Lead, a Mecate, or a length of rope when needed (it'll be up to you to tie the knot again if it is taken apart) - Made using the 4ROUND pattern - Approximately 3/8" wide - Choose 1, 2, 3, or 4 colours from the selection here $60.00
Each CDN. No tax to add. See NOTE > > > Click pictures for larger image. |
PLEASE NOTE
These are best used for riders that "guide" the horse with the Neck Rope, not "pull" on it. It is possible to pull on the loop of the Neck Rope or the Get Down Line to a degree that the knot could get distorted and pulled out of shape. |
