About the Paracord
We use 550 Paracord to make our Reins.
- We only buy paracord that is made in the United States or Canada as we feel it is superior in quality to other, less expensive paracord that is made "overseas". - 550 Paracord (or parachute cord) is nylon and is 5/32" in diameter or about 4 mm. - It has a braided outer sleeve and seven inner strands that come together to make a very strong, durable cord, for it's size. - Resistant to weather conditions, can be washed by hand and hung up to dry. |
About the Core
Some Reins are made around a core. The core we use is either the same paracord that is used to do the braiding or, for thicker Reins, we use a polyester 1/4" double-braided rope as the core. Please know that using a core makes the Reins slightly thicker and also slightly heavier.
About Lengths
Please know that all lengths are approximate. It is difficult to get the exact lengths but we will make it as close as we can. When we measure, we are typically only measuring the braided length between the ends.
About Us
We've been riding for 20+ years and always felt the reins in the tack stores weren't quite right somehow. So we started making our own. We've been making Reins for awhile now and, when riding, only use the Reins that we make. We have to test them after all, and do so with every ride! Reins to us are like shoes to some women...have to have one in every colour and style!
But we're not just about reins. Although that was the starting point, it's become so much more...mostly at the request of our customers. They liked the quality and feel of their reins and started asking us if we'd make other products too. So now we have a whole line of fully braided products! You can find them here.
Sometimes when the number of Reins we have for our personal use gets a little excessive we will reluctantly post some for sale at a discount. Our loss is your gain! That is a great way to get a great set of Reins at a great price!!
Rope Horse Tack is the parent company to Ima Rein Maker so some of the pictures may look familiar to you. The Rein making business took off so we decided to dedicate a website just to the Reins and fully braided products that we make. Be sure to check out all the other fully braided items we offer here and if you're after other rope tack, you may want to check the other products on the Rope Horse Tack website. Find it here... ropehorsetack.weebly.com

About the Pictures
Please know that all the pictures shown on this website are taken by ourselves, our affiliates, or our customers and is of actual products that we have personally hand-crafted. We have permission to use any of the pictures that we didn't actually take ourselves. It is known that people have used some of our pictures on their own sale pages, passing off the work as their own. We can't even tell you how upsetting this is to us. Flattering in some ways, sure, but wrong on so many levels.
I'm going to be rather blunt here but this is important and we don't want to leave anything to interpretation.
