Why choose Ima Rein Maker?
It's simple really. We make a quality product with quality materials. We wouldn't dare send you a product that we wouldn't use ourselves...and we're pretty darn picky! We love what we do...and it shows!
We're a small company with good, ol' fashioned values. The person that answers your email and helps you with your order is going to be the same person making those Reins just for you. This offers an attention to detail that others may not be able to provide.

How long will it take?
This is a bit of a tough question. What we can say is this...
We process orders in the order they are received. So it really depends on how many orders are in the works at the time your order is placed. And let's face it, we're people too, so general "life" is a factor and we can only braid so much before our body parts need a break. These are not items that are being made by machine. They are being hand-made to your specifications, just for you. There may never be another one like it...which is kinda cool...but this takes time.

Shipping and Handling
We are located in a small town in beautiful southern Ontario, Canada. All items ship from Canada and we've found Canada Post to be the most cost effective. "Handling" includes packaging, tape, business cards - all the little extras that are needed to get the package to you. We use recycled packaging to keep costs down as much as possible so don't be surprised if your order comes in a used envelope or a box with an Amazon logo on it.
Generally we can ship ONE or TWO ITEMS:
- Anywhere in Ontario for $18.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office
- Other provinces for $22.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office
- To the United States for $25.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office
When shipping to other International destinations:
- One item generally costs $70.00 and increases with each item added
All duties, customs, exchange, or other fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
A note about picking up orders. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to offer orders for pick up.

Pricing
All prices shown on this website are in Canadian funds. There is never any tax to add. We are willing to ship all over the world, wherever Canada Post will deliver. When we discuss pricing in an email with you, we will be referring to Canadian dollars. If you are from another country, please use Google, or some other method, to find out what the cost would be in your currency. That's what we do when we are thinking of ordering something that comes from another country and it seems to work pretty well!
How do we figure out what to charge for an item? When we price items we take into consideration such things as the amount of paracord that we're using, the amount of time the particular item takes to make, and the difficulty of the braid pattern. Just to give you a bit of an idea, here are a few bits of information...
- It takes about an hour or so just to get set up to start braiding. (To go from measuring the cord, cut it, untangle it, organize it, to finally starting to do the main braiding.)
- There is most often at least 100 feet of paracord in a Loop Rein. 200 to 250 feet in Split Reins. 280+ feet in a Mecate.
- Finishing the item, once the main braiding is done, takes about an hour in most cases.

Will you help me with the design?
There are a lot of options to choose from and we know it can get confusing, so YES!, we can help walk you through the design process.
HOWEVER, there really is only so much we can do. You will ultimately have to make the final decision on the details of the order, we cannot do that for you. If you have questions, please read the information on the website. The answers to almost all of the questions we get asked can all be found on the website. If we're on-line, we can't process orders which extends the wait time. And no one wants that!
If you've looked but can't find the answers to your questions, please let us know and we will do our best to answer them for you. If needed, we will give you a total of one free hour of our time on email or Facebook Messenger to do so. After that, there will be an hourly fee charged for our time.

Payments
- Payment must be made, in full, once all the details of your order have been finalized. Your order will not be processed until the order is paid in full.
- Once an order is started, the order cannot be cancelled for any reason.
- Payment methods accepted: Email Funds Transfer (EFT) or PayPal.
- INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: If you are needing your order shipped to a country other than Canada, once all the order details are complete, we will send a PayPal invoice to you for payment. We find that PayPal is the best way as they convert Canadian dollars to your currency automatically at the current exchange rate. You do not need a PayPal account in order to use the service although there are several questions that need to be answered before the payment will be complete.
- CANADIAN ORDERS: If you are having your order shipped to an address in Canada, you have the option of paying with an email funds transfer (EFT) through your bank. If you prefer to pay by credit card, a PayPal invoice will be sent to you for payment.

Cancelling an Order
Once an order is started, the order cannot be cancelled for any reason. We aren't going to stop making a set of Reins that you ordered in your specific length and colours because [fill in whatever reason here] happened. So please just don't even ask.
If the order hasn't yet been started, then we can refund your money minus any fees that have been/will be incurred. (Such as PayPal fees, EFT fees, etc.) Please email us at [email protected] to find out the status of your order.

Can I wash my items?
Yes, you can!
1) Remove any leather or metal hardware
2) Put the item in a mesh laundry bag (I get mine at the dollar store) or tied in an old pillow case would work in a pinch
3) Toss it in the washing machine on a cold water wash with like colours (in case the colours happen to bleed)
4) Always hang to dry -- never in the dryer!
Drying Tips: Paracord has been known to shrink at times so allowing the item to dry streatched between a couple of fixed items (trees, posts, or even chairs would probably work) will help to keep the length if that is important to you. (I just tug on mine a bit while it is still wet and hang it over the line I have in the house. Then, just wait for it to dry and it's good to go!)
If the item happens to be really dirty, I'd suggest hand-washing it in a big pail of water instead...to save your washing machine. It's amazing how much dirt can come out of some things. If doing this, go real easy on the soap and rinse, rinse, rinse!

I want snaps on my Loop Reins but they aren't shown as an option??
You're right, they aren't shown as an option...for a reason. I don't recommend metal snaps for Loop Reins. Why? Because they would be permanently attached. That means there is no way of replacing one should it happen to break. And we all know metal snaps can break! If one breaks then your beautiful new reins are useless...and I don't ever want that to happen! If you must have snaps on your loop reins, they can be attached to either the Leather or Braided Water Loops. Used this way, they can still be replaced when they break...and that is a much better alternative!

Can you call me?
It is no accident that you will not find a phone number on the website. We used to call customers when asked and it always...always...turned into a big thing with a bunch of details and people wanting opinions about something we couldn't possibly give an educated answer about because we don't know you, we don't know your horse. Only you know you and your horse best.
Email is the best way to communicate with us. Really. That way we can see, in writing, exactly what you're asking or ordering. This leaves very little room for error. So, seriously, please don't put us in an awkward position by asking us to call. We won't. Thank you for understanding!

Returns
Each item is hand-made for each individual customer which offers a great attention to detail for each piece we sell. If you find there is a problem with the workmanship of the item, please let us know immediately. If you are not using the item for which it was intended it only makes sense that we cannot guarantee the item will work properly.
Please understand that we will not take returns. All items are made at the time of order just for you. We always ask you to confirm all the details of the order before it is placed. Please be sure of all the details before finalizing your order. Please don't ask us to bail you out because you ordered the wrong length, don't like the colour, or missed any other information. This goes for "In-Stock and Ready To Go" and "On Sale" items as well. All the details are there. If you have any questions about the items...ask. You need to be sure of the length, colours, braid pattern, etc. as we will not take it back.
A note about metal snaps and hardware. The problem with metal snaps and hardware is that it can break, is known to break. They also get dirty and don't work as well as when they are new. These are not things that we can prevent. No supplier of ours will exchange or give us money back for snaps that break or don't work properly. Because of this, we are not able to replace snaps or metal hardware for any reason. If a snap isn't working like it should we would suggest washing it in warm water to try and loosen any dirt and debris that may have worked it's way into the mechanism. Once dry, add a small drop of oil. That has worked for us on occasion and may work for you as well.
A note about the cord. The cord we use is very strong...for it's size. But it is not indestructible. It will wear. Horses (and people too!) are hard on things. That's just the way it is. If something has been chewed on by horses, dogs, mice...whatever, or has been pulled in excess or dragged or caught in or under something or whatever other weird thing that might happen please don't ask us to replace it for you...especially free of charge. That's just not fair. We know things can happen but those are not things we have any control over (and maybe you didn't either at the time). We make a product that is tough and, with some care and consideration, will last for a long, long time under normal working conditions. We know, because we put our products to the test every time we ride!
We really don't have a return policy so-to-speak, other than what is mentioned above. We handle any issues that come up on a one-by-one basis so if you find you are having a problem with an item, after taking into consideration the information above, please do not hesitate to contact us and explain exactly what is happening, exactly how you are using the item, and please include pictures. We will try to come up with a solution that works for everyone because we definitely want you to be happy with any item you receive from us!
